Roman Mokrov is a photographer and media artist, born in 1986 in the city of Elektrougli, Moscow Region.

Graduated from Moscow State Regional University (in 2010 he received his Master Degree of Psychology, with his diploma: Anxiety Reduction by Sound-Sound-Resonant Painting, Free Workshops School of Modern Art at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA) and Institute of Contemporary Art Problems (ICA Moscow) in 2011.

The artist reveals the phenomenon of absurdity in Russian reality and actively explores the symbolic field and mythology of Nemoskva — small provincial or regional towns — in search of an elusive modern identity.

In 2012, with his work Endless History, he became one of the finalists and received a special prize of the All-Russian competition in the field of contemporary art Innovation, as well as a special mention to the jury of the international video art festival Now & Then’12. Nominee for the Kandinsky Prize (Young Artist. Project of the Year) 2012, 2016, nominee for the magazine Made in Russia Prize in 2014. Laureate of the Sergey Kuryokhin Prize (Best Media Object) 2014. Resident of the Garage workshops in 2019. Personal exhibitions include "My Russia" in 2006 in Regional Studies Museum, Balashikha, Moscow Region (2006), "Notmoscow" in 2012 in Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art, "Destiny of a Man" in 2012 in Triumph Gallery, Moscow, "Protective Screens" in 2013 in Nina Due Gallery, Milan, "Pastorale" in 2013 in Central Exhibition Hall Manege, Moscow, "Put a newborn fire in your palm " in 2014 in Moscow Museum of Modern Art .

Works are in collections of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), Gazprombank, Foundation of Vladimir Smirnov and Konstantin Sorokin, and in private collections.
